MILK AND MORE

Stop buying your milk in plastic cartons, switch back to the good old fashioned milkman and get glass bottles. Click on this link here to find your milkman.

During the period of 2016-2017, 14.3 million litres of milk were produced in the UK, with 80% of this being bottled in plastic containers. On average we consume 144 pints of milk every year, which is almost a staggering 3 pints per week. Equate this to a milk container, and you’re going through almost two, 2 pint plastic bottles every week.

This may not seem like much, but combine this consumption across the UK and you’ve got just one family of four throwing away 288 plastic bottles every year, and that’s just from milk.

BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION REUSE REVOLUTION

With so such furniture heading to landfill each year I think its really important to try wherever possible to see if you can find what you need secondhand. This year I am an Ambassador for the British Heart Foundation and the #reuserevolution I am delighted to be working the them as they seem to be one of the only circular economy charity options. This means that not only will they collect anything that you don’t want anymore from your home and talk it to the shops but they will also deliver anything that you buy in the shops too. Nothing goes to waste it is all put back into circulation. I think you will be vey surprised at the amazing things you can find for you home.

If you can join the TERRACYCLE recycling partnership and set up your own collections for things that can be recycled, set your school up with a Pringle Crisp or old batteries recycling box etc. A great website, full of information.
